What to expect when working with us!

This guide is for clients who are new to video production or new to working with Marmalade Creative. It outlines how the process works, what we need from you, and how we make shoots smooth, efficient, and low-stress.

Big Picture

Our goal is simple: create high-quality video content that clearly tells your story and serves a real business goal, without overcomplicating the process.

You do not need to know how to be on camera, how production works, or what gear is required. We handle the technical and creative details and guide you through each step.

1. Discovery + Planning

Before anything is filmed, we make sure we are aligned.

What happens:

  • A short discovery call or email exchange

  • We clarify your goal (marketing, fundraising, internal use, social, etc.)

  • We define the audience and where the video will live

  • We determine scope, timeline, and deliverables

What we may ask from you:

  • Brand references or examples you like

  • Key messages or talking points

  • Access to locations or people being filmed

  • Logos, brand guidelines, or music preferences

2. Pre-Production

We handle scripting, storyboards, shot lists, scheduling, and logistics to make sure filming goes smoothly. We will schedule a Pre-production meeting with you (if necessary). This phase ensures your project stays on track and aligned with your creative vision.

What happens in Pre-Production:

  • Optional Pre-Production meeting to lock in details

  • Final shoot schedule and locations are confirmed

  • Shot list or outline is created

  • Interview questions or prompts are prepared

  • Gear and crew needs are finalized

What to expect:

  • Clear communication about timing and expectations

  • Guidance on wardrobe, environment, and prep

  • A realistic plan that fits your space and schedule

3. Shoot Day

After the pre-production stage is finished, we get to work filming your story.

What to expect:

  • We arrive early to set up

  • We guide talent through interviews or actions (if needed)

  • We capture primary footage plus supporting B-roll

  • We adjust on the fly if something needs to change

If you are on camera:

  • You do not need to memorize lines

  • We coach you through responses and pacing

  • Multiple takes are normal and expected

  • The final edit pulls only the best moments

4. Post Production

This is where everything comes together.

What happens:

  • We assemble a first cut based on the agreed plan

  • Color, audio, and pacing are polished

  • Music and graphics are added if included

  • Up to 2 revisions are included

Revisions:

  • You will receive a review link

  • Put together ALL notes either through the online platform or via email

  • Clear, consolidated feedback helps keep timelines tight

  • We will make your revisions within 3 days!

We are happy to advise on best practices for posting, embedding, or sharing your video.

5: Final Delivery

Once your video package is approved, we provide it in ready to use formats. We’ll also offer guidance on how to promote your video effectively so you get the most out of your investment.

Timelines & Payment

Typical timelines vary by project size, but most follow this general flow:

  • Pre-production: 3 to 10 days

  • Shoot day: Half day to full day

  • First edit delivery: 7 to 14 days after filming

Rush timelines may be available depending on scope.

Payments:

  • A 50% deposit is required before the shoot day, with the remaining balance due open final delivery.

  • Payments can be made by Credit, Debit, ACH or Zelle.

  • Alternative Payment plans are available through Affirm.
